Production Blog: Editing
We ended off our quick Barnes & Noble trip with some celebratory Starbucks before heading back to Sammie's house to start editing. They messed up my order, but it’s okay! We had about 45 minutes to edit since Sammie had to go somewhere at 1:30. The first thing we did was go through all of the clips we have taken from the past two times we have filmed and pick our favorites. There were so many different clips of each shot, especially the bird's eye view where I walk into frame and sit down. It took us a pretty long time trying to decide which clips to use in the end. There were so many that we took that we couldn't decide! Once we decided which clips to include, we looked up the order of the titles. We made sure to put each title in the certain order it has to be in. We then inserted some random clips we filmed in between each title so that it wouldn’t seem too crowded. Some videos were accidentally filmed vertically, so we had to make sure to adjust them and make them horizontal. We turned the volume down on every clip, except for one. When watching this videos with sound, Isaac thought the sound of the book where the title of our final task was displayed would sound cool over the music. The rest of us agreed, and it was kept in the background. We added some transitions including a fade in which looked fantastic! After going through and cutting down unnecessary time, we realized something very unfortunate. We are 20 seconds short from meeting the required time. We were all devastated as we believed we filmed a sufficient amount of footage, but I guess we didn't. We tried extending some clips as much as we could before it began to look wonky but that still did not buy us any time. We wouldn't be able to go back and film me doing more insane things because my hair back then was purple and now it has faded so it would look completely different and out of place! We needed to think of a solution as soon as possible. But unfortunately, Isaac's parents arrived to pick him up, so we couldn't use his brains to conjure a solution.
