Production Blog: Filming at Sammie's House
Yesterday was our first day of filming and it was so much fun! We all agreed to meet at Sammie's house at 10 AM but I accidentally slept in and woke up at 9 AM. This may not have seemed like a problem at first because I live 2 blocks away from Sammie but Lilly had asked me for a ride since her parents are out of town, so I had to go pick her up. It takes 15 minutes to drive to Lilly's house and then 15 minutes to drive back to my neighborhood. Meaning I only had 30 minutes to get ready! We ended up arriving 15 minutes late to Sammie's house. It was no big deal since we were not rushed or anything. Once we were there, we got everything situated and organized including our outfits and makeup. For clothes, we all picked outfits that were from the same era when Weezer was popular; so mainly jeans and graphic tees. We all also put on messy, smudged, makeup to give us that grungy look.
We then made a gameplan for what we were going to record and when. We decided that Sammie and Isaac would be our two main characters. We started off filming Sammie waking up. Since Lilly is the tallest, we had her film this shot. Lilly held the camera above Sammie while she rolled out of bed. We then realized that Sammie and Isaac had to take some pictures together. Our plotline is the story of a breakup but the characters are in the same band together. One of our scenes includes Sammie deleting pictures of Isaac off her phone. They changed their outfits and took a few pictures with different filters and in different rooms. Sammie then changed back into her sleepwear and we got an over the shoulder shot of Sammie deleting pictures of Isaac off of her phone. Afterwards, we came up with a really funny idea. We would film a shot of Sammie eating cereal and then her head falling into the bowl. While Lilly and Sammie were filming that scene, Isaac and I had to keep Sammie's dog, Ziggy, busy because he kept trying to get into our scenes. Sammie then changed into regular clothing and we got a shot of her turning the car on and backing out of the driveway, as if she were on her way to band rehearsal. We then planned what we were going to do at the recording studio and made sure everything that we needed to film at the house was finished.
