Production Blog: Creating the Website

Now that we're done with the filming process, its time to begin creating the postcard and the website. Aidan and I decided to divide this work in half. I did the postcard and website, while Aidan edited majority of the video. I was happy to do this, as I took a website making course and HTML course in middle school. Creating websites is something I find enjoyable, so I was excited to make a website after not making one in so long.

I started off by making an account on Wix. I wasn't too familiar with this site, so it took me a while to find my way around. I had a friend who had taken A-Level a previous year help me find where every detail is. I began by choosing a template for my website. I searched up "movie" under template and scrolled a little before finding a format that I liked. I chose a nice color scheme for the website that matched our film. I used a picture of the swing set for color reference. I played around with some of the features and made everything match our film. I came up with some fake festivals to include and wrote quick biographies about our cast and crew. Then, I connected the link to our short film to the website. This was a bit tricky and hard to manage, but I got it in the end.

I also had to come up with some social media accounts. I chose to use TikTok and Instagram because I use them frequently, so I know how to use them. They are also the two most popular social media apps right now, so we were guaranteed to get more attention on these apps. I was thinking of making an account on X, but the whole process was very confusing and lengthy.
