Production Blog: Filming at Home
We were almost done with our short film when we realized we still had a few more scenes to shoot! We put this off completely after we had filmed majority of our video. It was until we were finalizing our video that we realized we were missing a pivotal plot point. We never filmed the clips where the audience sees Aidan and I waking up as each other! Without these clips, the plot line that Aidan and I had switched bodies was completely missed. So getting these shots was very important to the film and we had to do it ASAP! We thought it would be easier to just film these shots individually at home without the help of the other. Its not like this scene was complicated to act or film. All we had to do was look in the mirror and exclaim something along the lines of "AHHH! Who am I?"
As soon as I got home from school, I rushed to film this scene so that we could edit it in. I am sure Aidan did the same. I put on something that looked like pajamas so that it looked like as if I had just woken up. I asked my mom to help me film, and she gladly complied. I set her up to point my phone in an angle where you could see the reflection of myself in a mirror but not see her holding the phone. It took us a few times to get her in the right spot, but we were able to get it there eventually. I kept accidentally looking at the camera and/or laughing though, so we had to refilm this scene multiple times. I just looked into the mirror at my reflection and screamed and acted confused as to what was going on. I watched back the clip a few times and believed it was good enough to add in. I sent it to Aidan so that he could evaluate it. His clip was very similar to mine as well. NOW we're finally done with filming everything we had to!
