Production Blog: Filming at the Playground

After we finished filming by the soccer field, we moved on to our next location: the playground. Our biggest worry was that there was going to be a lot of children and make the process of filming here very noisy and tiring. Luckily, there were hardly any children there. There were only about two families there who looked like they were about ready to go home. Probably because it was getting late and the children most likely had school tomorrow. Or maybe it was because a group of teenagers showed up...who knows! But it worked out in our favor!

The first thing we filmed was another quick establishing shot to show the new location we were at. Then, Aidan and Donovan decided to hop on the swings and goof around a bit. But I took it as a perfect opportunity to film a shot of Aidan and Donovan, who was going to be his friend in the film. Then, Abby filmed a long clip of the two boys talking about sports to fill the air. We put this clip in the video in order to show that they are just two normal boys doing teenage things. But they are also pretty sporty and sort of jock like. In a typical coming of age movie, jocks usually show superiority over the 'nerd' characters. Abby filmed a shot of me walking past Aidan and Donovan and them being mean to me. I stormed off after.

We skipped filming a few scenes as we had to do them at home and moved on to our next scenes. Abby filmed a video of me going up to Aidan and confronting him saying that I think we switch bodies. Then, it was Abby's turn on camera. She was going to play the wizard that switched us. We found a little train stool nearby and made her sit on it as if it were her 'throne'. We gave her the objects that we had to find so that she could throw them, and then Donovan would pan to our surprised expressions. This took a few tries to film because we kept laughing.
